External Relations and Resources

This group will identify and work with key allies and supporters at the state and federal levels of government, in the business community and in higher education/training, and identify sources of funds to use in the development and operation of the hub.

Charge

  • Develop a list of allies and supporters who can help advance the mini-hub, and arrange meetings with them to present the concept and enlist their help, as appropriate.
  • Recommend a P.R. and marketing strategy that may include development of printed material, web site, press conferences, etc. This may also include a recommendation to retain a private firm that specializes in P.R. and marketing.
  • Identify the sources of external funding for various aspects of mini-hub development and operation, including, but not limited to the U.S. Economic Development Administration, U.S.D.A., U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Rural Internet Access Authority, state government, Golden LEAF, and other foundations.
    • Indicate the types of tenants/owners, activities, infrastructure that the identified sources of funds could be used for, as input to the land use planning, amenities, facilities, and phasing working group
